A downloadable asset pack

A pack of force shield effects in 3 different styles:

  • Hexagon pattern (for sci-fi and space-themed games).
  • Magic style (suitable for fantasy games).
  • Smooth surface.

The pack covers with animations the most common shield states and events: active, hits, breakdown, build-up. See the showcase video for examples.

The pack also contains some overlay effects, such as sparks, that can be animated independently from the shield itself.

What's in the pack:

  • Shield effects are provided as spritesheets, sensibly named and subdivided into folders. Animated sprites have 4 to 12 frames, static ones are just single images. Cell size is 512x512 pixels (round form factor) or 384x512 pixels (elliptic form factor) and can be scaled down to suite your needs. In the video I scaled down to 256x256 for a more pixel-art style, for instance.
  • The spriteshees come in 2 color hues: green and blue for magic style. I included a black and white version too, for you to apply a custom color (the "colorize" effect of GIMP is a good way to do so).
  • The spritesheets come in 3 different sizes for each variant: Big (512x512), Medium (256x256) and Small (128x128).
  • Animations are meant to play with 80 to 100 ms between frames.

License: you are free to download the pack and use its contents as part of personal or commercial projects (games, comics, videos, websites, etc.). Credit to the author and a link to this page are not mandatory, but appreciated. You are not allowed to redistribute the spritesheets of this pack as they are or with just minor variations (such as changing only color/size).
